The Sign is Covivio’s urban regeneration project that transforms the former Vedani Foundry area, dating back to the 1950s, into a modern Business District serving businesses and the city. The complex includes four buildings housing the new offices of Aon, NTT Data and L’Oréal Italia.
In addition to spaces for businesses, The Sign includes a public square named after Fernanda Pivano, large green areas dedicated to the community, and a diverse retail offering, making it an example of excellence for Milan. With over 40,000 square meters, The Sign gives back to the city an innovative space designed for change.
Room for new
opportunities
L’Oréal Italia’s new headquarters, the “L’Oréal Italia Beauty Hub,” completed the transformation of The Sign. The project, which represents the evolution of what has already been built in the area, also includes a plaza and a tree-lined area, a perfect area for relaxation, recreation and leisure, an intimate and very charming space in which to linger in the shade of birch trees.
An idea
that leaves a mark
The defining element of the project created by Progetto CMR – Massimo Roj Architects is the sign, a common thread that visually unites the buildings and public spaces. The sign originates from the arrival of the pedestrian flow that starts from the Romolo subway station, crosses the buildings, the square and declines in a path defined by materials and traces of light in the pavement.
In the facades, the sign is found in the bright glazed curtain wall between the interruptions of the metal “skin”. This single, simple gesture holds the intervention together, stitches it to the context and makes it recognizable.

hub
The Sign is located in the southwest quadrant of Milan, in an area that is deeply connected and served by public transportation. The campuses of IULM and NABA universities make the area lively and rich in cultural opportunities, while green areas enhance its livability.
